10 Valencia CF players have participated in this prestigious international competition
The Africa Cup is also a special competition for Valencia CF. Throughout Valencianista history, 10 players have participated in this international competition. In this edition, Selim Amallah and Mouctar Diakhaby will be present at the African tournament representing their national teams (Morocco and Guinea) and the Valencianista squad.
Many African players have worn the Valencia CF jersey over the years and have also played in the Africa Cup of Nations. Some of the players who have done so are: Salif Keita - Valencia CF's first African player, winner of the African Golden Ball and played in the Africa Cup in 1972-, Rabah Madjer -he spent one season at the Club and played in the Africa Cup in 1980/1982/1984/1986/1990/1992, Moussa Saïb - also spent one season in the Valencianista squad and played the African tournament in 1990, 'Momo' Sissoko - important piece in the midfield of the 'Triplet' (2003-2005) and competed in the African Cup in 2004/2008/2010/2013, Sofiane Feghouli -more than 200 official matches with the che national team and played the 2019 Africa Cup, Seydou Keita -nephew of Salif Keita and won the affection of the fans in the season he was there, played the 2008 Africa Cup, Aymen Abdennour -was at Valencia CF from 2015 to 2018 and played in the 2017 African tournament, Ilaix Moriba -was at Valencia CF from 2021 to 2023 and played in the 2021 African tournament-, Mouctar Diakhaby -current Valencianista player, accumulated 174 official games at the Club and competes in the Africa Cup 2023, and finally, Selim Amallah -arrived in the summer of 2023 and disputes the Africa Cup 2023.
Other African players who defended the Valencianista shield, but could not compete in the prestigious international tournament of the Africa Cup are: Stephen 'Sunny' Sunday, Ibrahim Diallo or Geoffrey Kondogbia.
